Thanks Viktor! I should have thought of transport maps. The only change I made to your suggestion (included here in case anybody else is interested) was to use 'smtp:[the.relayhost.com]' as the destination in the transport table. Using plain 'smtp' caused Postfix to attempt normal MX delivery,
