I saw it activates a transcode with -nolog option. Might I get some info from ffmpeg logs if I deactivate that on the commandline? Now I'm out. When I'll come back home I'll deactivate aac transcoding (it currently transcodes to flac) and report back. Processor is an i7 4770K, 16GB of RAM. Do y

[SlimDevices: Plugins] bpa, using PlayHLS approach for transcoding multichannel music?

2016-03-05 Thread gorman
Hi! I have lots of multichannel music that I play on my AV Receiver connected SB, through DTS and AC3 files encapsulated in FLAC. Now, thinking about the approach taken with PlayHLS, I was wondering if there could be a way to have FFMPEG transcode multichannel stuff (it has all the same genre, 5.

First of all, thanks for answering. I tried several times in the past to do what you're describing but probably missed the thing about being able to add suffixes and configuring them in custom-strings.txt. Really interesting. I need to study. Thanks for the help. :) -

FFMPEG does convert DTS and AC3 to stereo formats with no problem. But the files are encapsulated in a WAV, then compressed to FLAC (for tagging reasons). And FFMPEG does not "understand" these FLAC files (that compress a WAV that encapsulates DTS/AC3). At least as far as I could understand and t

SUCCESS!!! I've managed to have it working at a commandline level. Now it's on to have it working with Squeezebox Server custom-convert.conf, custom-types.conf, custom-strings.txt and so on and so forth... At least for DTS files. Not sure I'll have it working for AC3, but DTS constitutes the gran

Hi! Well, the thing is, as you might see I'm not a first time user of SBs... I know one is not supposed to touch convert.conf. I definitely don't want to do that. BUT To give you an example. If this line is in convert.conf flc mp3 * * # FB:{BITRATE=--abr %B}T:{START=--skip=%t}U:{END=--u

Ok. Working solution. It's not completely ideal, because it forces me to transcode FLAC files to wired units even when not needed but still... 320kbps are more than fine for Booms and the SB Classic connected to the audio monitors I have. All units uncapable of playing AC3/DTS files limited to 32

I thought about modifying the lines related to the wired unit like this, but it didn't work. The same line, from the commandline, produces a perfectly playable 2 channels 16 bit/44.1 FLAC file. But there seems to be a conflict with the bitrate limiting and the Squeezeboxes thinking they are going

Found a clean solution. I can losslessly transcode all multichannel music to ALAC (a format I've never used for anything) and act on that format only. All other stereo music stays in FLAC, with no modification to custom-convert.conf. This doesn't help me understand how to achieve this with custom
