Release 2.24.2 adjusts the Material Icon so that it complies with the
Material Skin style guidelines.
It's in the Beta repository now and will be available from the main
repository at the next refresh.

I unzipped the 4.8.0 y
I unzipped the 4.8.0 you linked to into
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins
But it does work correct
I must assume it does _not_ work correctly?
The setting web page with settings and plugin shows that 4.8.0 is
installed but when I check the settings for Spotty it shows error
message at the top

Her is the error message
Please check permissions on
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/Spotty/Bin/i386-linux/spotty*. If the
permissions are correct, run each of those binaries with "./spotty -x"
etc. and post the output here.

If I change the owner to squeezeboxserver spotty plugin does not show up
in active plugin list
As I said: you're wasting your time... Just remove that manually
installed version and get back to the regular installation. There are
thousands of happy users out there. The problem you're having is
