I was mistaken about the date. The standard (free) listen online feature
will end with your next renewal date after March 11. You CAN go to their
website and getan extension that will get you one extra month, but the
free service IS ending.
On another note .. is it just ME, or does the Sirius sit
I think it can be reduced possibly to about 0.5 sec but it is due to
network delays and buffering in SC and players. There will always be a
small delay and so cannot be used to sync PC audio with other SB player
or SB output with PC video.

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately I doubt I will have time to
even explore this at this time. That said, my wife really misses the
screensaver from our old setup (she enjoyed knowing what was coming
up). So I have spent some time looking for one with similar features
that someone may have

get the iPlayer plugin, so presume I have the latest versi
iplayer on Windows Xp SP3 (latest SC ) and on Vista X64. In both cases
no live from BBC

All the iPlayer BBC live streams seemed to have stopped working for me.
"No items found in Playlist". The URLs, if copied from iPlayer, do not
work in Windows Media Player either. I don't know if this is temporary
or not. The BBC feeds in Staff Picks still work.

That's great - I never tracked down the alsa virtual soundcard. A near
alternative I found for apps which use OSS was vsound (
http://www.vsound.org/history.php ) but it is not as good as your
solution.
The "audio" group issue may depend on the distro and so may vary from
distro to distro.

Well no, as I said the free streams are working fine. The problem was
that the new beta version couldn't find the html page. I was just
trying to let the author know he had a path problem with the beta.
I am a standard Sirius subscriber, not premium.

The problem you are likely having is that Sirius has stopped the free
streams. You have to be a paid subscriber to get the internet streams
now, and I believe that might have started this week.

I did this by adding a "virtual soundcard" using the alsa driver

Well I held back on installing 7.3 on ReadyNAS because it looked a bit
flaky for ages - upgraded yesterday, and it's fine (apart from 1 small
glitchette which I need to raise on the ReadyNAS forum I think).
Main reason for the upgrade was so that I could use the BBC iPlayer

I think I have found the WMA bug in SoftSqueeze and have built a patched
version with a fix. I think the bug only affects systems which use
mplayer (or possibly ffmpeg) to decode WMA as it has a longer startup
delay than wmadec which is used on Windows systems.
