I recently installed mIP and suddenly have a number of new genres coming
up when I search for genres using the remote. For instance, I've now got
"1", "15", "4", "20", etc listed as genres. I had a look to see which
songs are attributed to each of these and opened EasyTag to wipe them

Yes, /usr is normally invisible. You can find it (and other invisible
files) using the Go to Folder item in the Finder's Go menu. Enter /usr
in the box, not just usr.
/usr/local/bin (and perhaps even /usr/local) may not exist. I seem to
remember that installing lame automatically created the /usr

Yes, I had the same problem. Four processes were added for each track
that was started and the number just kept increasing.
The problem appeared when I updated to Squeezecenter 7.3.2. I went back
to 7.3.1 and it was fixed.

I'm using the VERSION tag for my flac files.
Using Erlands CustomScan (v2.5) this tag works well with all flac
files.
But I have also some mp3 files where the VERSION flag is not set on
(using TIT3 instead).

Sorry, I only assumed it was an iPeng issue as I was using it at the
time SC crashed. I'll try and replicate the problem when I get a
chance and get back to you. I thought it might have been similar to
the issue someone had a few pages back having to restart his NAS.

I have cdda2wav in usr/local/bin. It could go elsewhere (usr/bin, for
instance) but usr/local/bin is a good place for items that one
installs, leaving usr/bin for items installed by Apple.
And I see that my copy of cdda2wav came as a binary inside the package
of a program called xACT, which can b
