I installed 6.5 yesterday and discovered I can no longer connect to XM.
It's not even attempting. If I try to play a channel the screen
flickers once but doesn't do anything else. Everyting appears to still
be correct in the plug-in setup.

For me AlienBBC works from the squeezebox but the "AlienBBC" link under
"INTERNET RADIO" on the home page fails with:
ERROR: file error - plugins/Alien/index.html: no found

Can you copy the conf files into the server directory with the
convert.conf file and see if it works ?
I'm sorry for the noise. It was a simple permissions issue... I'll have to
clean up access rights on all these folders as we can't run slimserver as
root any more :-)

Loading the conf file is done by slimserver and not by the AlienBBC code
- so somehow on your distro the directories may not be set up the same
or the files can't be read by slimserver.
There are few debugging stmts. in the code which loads the conf files -

That's exactly the folder where those files are: in the same place as
Plugin.pm.

I just installed the tar.gz file on SuSe 10 and it worked OK.
Where did the files custom-convert.conf and custom-types.conf from the
tarball go ?

The faq says this isn't supported (listening to BBC radio through SB
served by Slimserver on an Infrant ReadyNAS). Does anyone know if/when

It's a known issue with predominantly Windows who eriher have long
transmission time (e.g satellite links) or have tweaked their network
connection.
So if your system matches these then you can
1. Revert the TCP parameters back to Windows default
or
2. edit with Wordpad the file custom-convert
The dependency is actually in the Weather::Cached/Com PERL modules.
Didn't know you were using a third party module. Would be hard to adapt
this to SlimServer's own routines :-/

You should only get those errors if SlimScrobbler isn't working at all!
I would try reinstalling from the version on my site, as I've just
re-uploaded it with UNIX line endings (I thought I had before, but
didn't)

Of course you can: replace LWP methods with slimserver's own AsyncHTTP
calls. This will not only get rid of the dependency, but will not block
slimserver during fetches neither. It's a bit of work, but really worth
