It's pure java is part of the issue. Personally, I'm not too fond of
Java. Why not create a cross platform Softsqueeze in GTK or something?

phil, I started a thread on the general board about getting some folks
to pitch in and pay someone to develop a Sirius plugin. Would you be
willing to tackle the job for a little financial remuneration?
Apparently, the Sirius login protocol is available somewhere online.

Please elaborate about this transcoder. There is a paucity of
Documentation for this application.
Thanks for the reply,

That nailed it. Triode's analysis was right - it was mplayer.sh being
on the path and htrd's suggestion of /usr/bin as a suitable location
was spot on. The Archers are now streaming away (sad, I know).

I've tried changing the fields in mmm.ini and also the entries in the
MMM GUI options but I always get a 12 track mix - does the Slimserver

I'll try that when I get home.
Thanks for the tip on paths. I was skipping the first quotation mark
when copying from the website. My error.

Kyle, could you try the "Test mplayer.bat" in C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86.
By the way you need to enclose the paths in double quotes (") to run
the commands.

I suspect it is not finding mplayer.sh - could you put this somewhere
which is on the path for the slimserver user?

Thanks Patrick, but that didn't get it. I agree that Alien's default
untar permissions can be odd but all are now uniformly 'slimserver' but
still no change with the rtsp file settings.

Whenever I install (re)Alien I always do
chown -Rf slimserver:slimserver .
from the slimserver dir.
By default, AlienBBC seems to untar with odd ownership and this fixes
it.

I am running Ubuntu and have had a working version of 6.5b1 running with
a functioning Alien 1.0 for the past month or so. However I was tempted
by the release of the official Slimserver Debian package and the promise
that I could update regularly as I used to do when running Mandrake and

Can you try and replace socketwrapper by the one indicated in the post
below and try BBC again. Save the original socketwrapper in case you
need to revert.

Mitch,
have a look at the snow screensaver.
This generates graphics for both SB1 (using custom characters) and the
