See if the correct pair of password and username is getting through.
Use "debug" mode of pppd.

I am using redhat 8.0 and recently got tata/vsnl broadband.
I have a pppoe dialer with redhat box. however I am unable to get to ppp0.
It gives me PAP authentication error .. input/output error.
I have checked my pap-secrets and chap-secrets .. there is nothing
wrong with the passwd etc.
