python samba extensions come with the samba 3.0 suite
and u'll get python-ldap module to work with ADS.

I don't think that is true. When in legacy mode, you can select which
drives you want active.
You can make this selection in the sub-menu which appears, when you
set to legacy mode.

Try using a distro which has the 2.6.x kernel. The 2.4 tree does not have
