I'm just curious as to why they decided to use the SCSI emulation this time.
All my harddisks are named sda1 ... sda6. And not only that, they even used
/dev/disk/by-uuid to name my disks (which is counter intuitive, albeit
helpful at some levels).

I think I have no choice yet to change sql server 7 to
mysql or postgresql since the main application is
proprietary and have no option on using the two oss db
server, I also have so many middlewares that was also
designed specifically to SQL server. Maybe I will wait
for CentOS 5 rel

(you know, the "flat file" DB format also used by Visual FoxPro and MS
Access).
Easiest probably is to fetch all the messages iteratively via IMAP and
put them in mbox-format flat files. Pretty easy to do using Perl.
