-nox's postinst: this file was still
present, and it did contain a call to vlc-cache-gen.
It looks to me as if the file trigger set by vlc-nox on
/usr/lib/vlc/plugins made the old vlc-nox.postinst run *before*
vlc-nox is upgraded (and before that old postinst is removed).
