I have been holding version 1.0.6* of vlc for this very reason: video
output failed beginning with all versions 1.1*. This has been going on
for a couple of months, but investigating this was not a high priority
for me since holding back 1.0.6* (and some of its dep

I believe that the OP is mixing unstable FFMPEG libraries with
debian-multimedia libraries, and it

I haven't had much time to work on this 'audacity' bug until today, but
by tomorrow I hope to either provide draft patches that allow it to run
on my system, or at least provide a more complete description of what's
going wrong with the code.
I see that upstream does not allow people to open t
I didn't accomplish very much after work tonight toward debugging this
problem, but I have some new information to report.
Since 'audacity' was working for me just a few months ago, I decided I
wanted to try to locate an earlier version that works on my hardware. I

Forgive the version listed above: it is from my local build, and is obviously
not an official Debian package.

The last time I used audacity, everything was working fine. (This was a
few months ago... maybe January.) There have been several updates in
Sid since then. Today I wanted to use audacity, but this is what I get:
