Hi all,
I filed a bug for the above issue #689525 . Could somebody take a look
at that and direct me as to what do I need to figure out in order to
see/understand why it's behaving like that. All the other media
players do NOT behave at all in the above manner. I like vlc for it's
UI and other thin

Oops, sorry about that. I had old version of mpg123 hiding in
/usr/local. I can confirm that right version works as expected...

currently transcode uncoditionally enables alsa and v4l, which are

The attached patch enables them only on Linux (restricting the alsa
build dependency too)
