Thanks for your answer, but I don't run PHP as a module, but rather as CGI.
If I follow your advise, my phps files get parsed as usual, they don't show
the source code.
At the moment I'm solving it with the highlight() command, but that is not
an optimal solution...

I use Apache 1.3.14 + PHP 4.0.4 on Windows 98 SE and it works perfectly.
The lines I have on my apache config file inside
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
When I point my browser at a .phps file on my server, it shows
You need to edit the mod_php4.conf and edit the following section
ForceType application/x-httpd-php
this will allow PHP scripts to be parsed in phps, html and htm
