It sounds like that php5 cannot find the mysql.so and
mysqli.so shared dynamically loaded modules.
There could be a few reasons for this.
First thing to do is to check the:
Configuration File (php.ini) Path /usr/local/php-5.1.2/lib/php.ini
which is the 6th entry down for my phpinf
