I have the same code running on a WINNT machine that does not display the
same problems.
phpinfo.php runs OK
When I try to run the web site I get the following:

You should really install the latest version of Apache and PHP (versions
1.3.20 and 4.0.6 respectively).
But, in the meantime, you can either add the MySQL 'library' directory to
your LDPATH (library search path), or simply 'link' the necessary MySQL file
to "/usr/lib" (which is the 'standard'
find / -name *libmysqlclient* -print
put the result in ld.so.conf
run ldconfig
make/make install php.
