System with installed PHP 4 under /usr.
PHP 5.2.5 configured with --prefix=/opt/php52. After the "make
install" all PEAR files(!) under /usr/share/php vanished.
PEAR.php and every file under /usr/share/php/PEAR. The
directories stayed.

I can't compile php4 with curl. With the following compile parameters,
gcc can't find libcurl.so, which is located in /usr/local/lib.

to compare the speed: my notebook (p4 2.1 ghz/512mb ram/RedHat Linux 2.4
executes the code in 1.7 seconds
My first try with apache 2, but without any cpp-flags executes the code
in 4.3 seconds.

PHP 4.2.3, APACHE 1.3.27, MOD_SSL 2.8.12-1.3.27, OPENSSL 0.9.6h, MySQL 3.23.53a on
SuSE8.0
whenever I compile Apache (with mod_ssl, although I think that does not matter) and
PHP and start up with "apachectl start",
all PHP-files don't get parsed, instead the PHP-sources are shown in
the url? This works in my old
apache 1 installation.!
The file is named "test.php" in the "abc" directory.
"http://my.server.se/abc/test.php"; works, but not
"http://my.server.se/abc/test";
Any tips in what i missed out in configuration or how to fix th
ation or how to fix this would be

If I access the vaiable in my script like
nothing is printed. Neither in the browser window, nor in the

Fun thing: If I use phpinfo()/phpversion(), I see the parameter as
dfile
make: cd php-4.1.1 (or any version you got)
there you can run ./configure --help

after you run a ./configure it creates a config.cache file (and a lot more
files). In this file all the configure options etc. are stored. So .. before
you run a new ./configure be sure to remove the file.

you could try the following things: make a configure with the --without-gd
switch. Also make sure, that you deleted before the config.cache file (think
there could be a bug with overwriting it).
