but didn't build PHP from them, instead, I
followed his suggest and copied the entire /sapi/apache2filter directory to
my 4.1.2 build directory, and built PHP with these simple command lines:
./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs
make
make install

they were
able to furnish no details on how they accomplished it; to be honest, I
think they were being less than fully honest.
Please post to the group, if you find a solution ... and I'll do the same!
