I'm not a PHP programmer so forgive my ignorance when it comes to the
language. I recently recompiled PHP with IMAP support by doing:
./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-xml
--enable-bcmath --enable-calendar --enable-ftp --enable-magic-quotes
--with-mysql=/usr --enable-disca

Any modifications on php.ini must be made with Apache 2.x.x Stoped.
Stop Apache and Start newly. Your php.ini will be ok.

Got it working and you are right. Dumping OSCOMMERCE shopping cart
and turing it back off! I mainly was interested in being able to
change php.ini and getting the changes working.
