I'm attempting to install PHP with support for the Informix database on
a Red Hat Linux Advanced Server 3 IA64 machine. I'm trying to create
an RPM file, so I've edited the php.spec file to include:
--with-informix=/opt/informix
and I've put the path to the informix libraries in the envi
The general approach that works for me is:
./configure LDFLAGS=-static --disable-libxml --disable-cgi --disable-shared
make LDFLAGS=-all-static
(libxml is compiled in thread mode with pthreads and they don't seem to like
static linking on my system)

I tried to run the php-5.0.2 'sh makerpm' on Suse9.2, and ran into the
following problems.
I had to make the following changes to get past initial errors:
1. Install rpms apache2, apache2-devel, bison, flex, mysql, mysql-devel
2. changed makerpm:
Change: rpm -ba
To: rpmbuild -ba
Hm, on the 2nd try it worked with xml and mysql too, so I guess everything
works fine :)
