One of our older servers is running RH 6.2 with openssl 0.9.5 (patched) at
/usr. This is required for legacy software. If I just install the new
openssl 0.9.6 in /usr/local without linking it via ldconfig, and try
compiling php (as an Apache DSO module) with --with-openssl=/usr/local, we
