Thank you Michael. This solved it. I always forget the options to the tar command so I
get lazy and use winzip since I have access to the linux box through samab.

I just ran into problems compiling php. This is what I typed in
./configure --with-mysql --with-apxs=/path/to/apxs --with-ldap=/usr
These are the error messages :
grep: /usr/lib/libgssapi.la: No such file or directory
/bin/sed: can't read /usr/lib/libgssapi.la: No such file or director
I'm getting this too.
