I am trying to install PHP onto my Linus server and I am getting
errors. The message says to contact you for help. I have looked all
over the net for the hack but have not found it. Obviously I am new to
Linux.

I made the stupid mistake to install PHP 4.0.6 using Windows InstallShield
(I previously ran 4.0.5 and it worked fine) on a Win 2000 server and now
no Cold Fusion application is running (Internal Server Error 500) on that
machine.

I mentioned the wrong ini file. To get this to work you need to edit your
httpd.conf file.
Find the line that looks similar to this:
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
and change it to look like this:
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .htm .html
and all should be fine
