Things are moving. Now the new thing is http://hortonworks.com/products/dataflow/ Pharo could indeed be embedded at various places (like in MR w/ Hadoop Streaming). It is annoying that it is 32 bits as there is a need to deploy 32 bits libs all over the cluster and that's hard to do in a skunkwork
