Hi. This is my first post to this list. So please let me know if my question
is in the wrong area.
I am trying to install version 8.3.0.1 on an old windows 2000 box I inherited.
Firewall s/w is installed but disabled. I am logged in as a user with
Administrative rights. When the installing

I have tried different versions and everything I can think of but have run out
of ideas. It is frustrating. I really would like to use postgresql.. if I
could only get it to install! ;-)

What are the permissions required to install postgres as a service on windows
2000/2003? I have followed the instructions, as I understand them, but the
program will not install.
It either fails with "The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc022). Click on OK to terminate the app
Anyone?
Or is there a better list for asking installation questions? I could really
use some help on this one.

Were you ever able to install PostgreSQL on windows 2000? I am having similar
problems on 2000 Pro and have absolutely zero luck with it.

Whenever I try to install version 8.3 on w2k, using an existing windows account
, the installer returns the error "Invalid username specified: A required
privilege is not held by the client".
I have since installed version 8.2 successfully, using the same account that
failed with the 8.3 inst
was not having any
luck with it and received no responses. I would still like to know how to
force it install though ...
