I'm currently trying to install a set of Perl modules that interact with
a particular SQL schema (bioperl-db with BioSQL, if anyone is familiar
with them), and am running into a problem that appears to be emergent
with 8.0.3.

I'm sorry, I'm sure I should be asking this someplace more general, but
apparantly the word 'port' is used in so many different contexts that a
google search turns up fruitless ;)
I'm just trying to access a remote postgresql database on port 5432,
which does not appear to be open on the remot
parameter (currently 50).
The PostgreSQL documentation contains more information about
shared memory configuration.
Anyone have an ideas?
