I have never used 'ident map" on any system. Yes, I know where the postgresql.conf and pg_hba.conf' files are located on Ubuntu, since I stated I modified them to allow internet connections and to use proper authentication. PostgreSQL has always allowed the apache user (nobody or apache) on some
