All I can say is it works for me. You sure you re-ran configure
after editing the template/darwin file?

I was totally unable to get 3.3 to work. Even with the
switch. My method is to switch with the script to 3.1
to make postgresql. (for mac OS X)
sudo gcc_select 3.1
works fine through 7.4 beta 3.
