creating a new cluster:

The system is:
Debian testing
PostgreSQL 8.1.8

Thanks for the reply. I did a telnet using the server's remote IP, and it
worked! So I am assuming now that it is a firewall problem But I have
turned off the windows firewall from my system, I have tried restarting the
system too. No luck!
I have changed the pg_hba.conf to
