Did you find any resolution or further information on this?
I did find that the issues originates with this greenplum commit:
https://github.com/greenplum-db/gpdb/commit/5b2af3cf6892061ca43e5e310861870fada13fcf
which adds 8.4 code, but the version is still 8.3 overall.
