the issue is a missing menu bar on pgadmin3 ver 18.1. the error could be replicated on installations of Ubuntu 12.04, 13.10 and 14.04 on two different systems. When using the debian package, pgadmin3 did not contain a menu bar. After invoking the server group, the following messages appeared. (sa
