We installed postgres 7.3.3 in windows 2000 server and using ASP applications.
But, due to overload postgres crashes very often.
So, we decided to switch the databases to Linux box.

seconds to complete its startup.

I've got this kind of error before using the psql command line and it was
related to the client program having a different version than the database
server. Perhaps pgadmin 3 would work? Or perhaps there is an upgrade for
the database driver. My goal would be to get as much of your setup to
Mind the single quote / double quote differencies... PostgreSQL sometimes
requires you to use single quotes.
If I'm not mistaken: single quotes are for litteral reading. eg. case
sensitivity...

I have succesfully installed postgresql 7.4 and I am able to do everything i.e
creating databases, tables etc from psql.
Having default 'postgres' as the database user.
But when I start pgadmin3 and get connected to the server with initial database
to be my database, it gets connected but
