Patches submitted to trunk in r22776, Nov 08 2007. Resolving ticket.
Patch attached refactors configuration step auto::socklen_t to maximize
testability. Patch also includes two test files which replace
placeholder file. Will commit to trunk in 2-3 days if there is no
objection.

File holding framework for writing tests for this configuration step was
committed to trunk Oct 21 2007 in r22362. Tests do not yet provide high
coverage due to obstacles in testing runstep(). You are encouraged to
poke around and add tests.
