for mplayer try -cache 16384 or something to increase the cache size this helps
a lot on my ati based notebook... don't knwo if such an option exists for
xine...

performance was terrible. I have an ATI Radeon based chipset, I understand at
least part of the issue is related to the driver. Hopefully someone who knows
more can comment...I would *love* to see this fixed.
