I always envied Nikon F100 viewfinders compared to the PZ-1p and MZ-S
viewfinders. Had digital not come along I would have switched to Nikon. I like
my K5 though. My only problem with the K5 is that in bright light it is
difficult to read the viewfinder info. I love the interface otherwise. What

They pop up ever so often at KEH for about $80 used. Also, they don't last long when
they do have one for sale.
This lens rates well(aspherical element??) and supposedly the F lenses are built like

I photographed some fireworks last 4th of July using Kodak 100 speed print
film (can't remember if it was Gold or Royal Gold)using my PZ1p and FA*24mm
f2.0 and cable release. When the fireworks were launched I just held the
shutter open for several seconds while the rockets exploded and tr
My advice(and I'm not a pro):
1) Buy good film.
I suggest Kodak Portra 160 NC, Fuji NPS(160), Fuji NPH(400), Fuji
Reala(100), Kodak TriX Pan(400)and Ilford HP5(400).
2) Use the equipment that you know.
3) Use a good film processor/printer.
4) You need a flash other than RTF.
Get one
What more do you want? It is hard to beat FREE. ;-)
If you want original quality shop Ebay, etc. and be prepared to pay the
price. I'm sure a majority of the manuals are "out of print".
I have found the free download of the LX manual quite useful.

I think you can get a new 5n for approx. 280 after rebate...only 40 more
than a new zx-l. I don't see buying any camera without, at the very least,
center-weighted metering. Ergonomically speaking the 5n is one of the best.
The zx-l will be hard pressed to beat it in this area.
Be advised this
I highly recommend the AF500FTZ. The guide number is 138 ft., coverage goes
as wide as 24mm, swivel head, and vari-power in manual mode. BTW KEH has one
in EX condition for $205.00. They sell for $284.00 new at B&H. I have the
500 and it works great.

Has anybody tried Kodachrome 64 and/or 200 for the purpose of photographing
birds? I've seen some old Kodachrome slides that looked great. Small or
non-existent grain isn't everything(Kodachrome 200).

The PZ1-p stays in the drive mode in which you set it until you change it
whether it be 2s(with mirror lock-up) or 12s, etc. Quite logical and
convenient I'd say and not a complex operation to perform.

I think the Kodak picture disk or Seattle Film Works(now Photo Works)
software is pretty easy to use. My disks date back to late '99 early 2000.
I suppose you could copy the program from floppy to floppy with jpeg images
that you want to use in the slide show. I do not consider it to be
complicate

Just noticed that B&H no longer lists the PZ1p as new for sale stock. I
suppose there are no more. I should have gotten another one while they
lasted. Sad, sad sad. Heck of a buy at $479 new.

Kodak ticked me off when they discontinued some of their best films such as
Royal Gold 100, Kodachrome 25 and their threats to discontinue Kodachrome
200. Of course, they already did away with Royal Gold 25(never got to try
