Interesting that 35 mm. SLRs are 25% of unit volume, but 54% of dollar value. Perhaps
we have been too pessimistic about the future of film SLRs, and film to put in them.
It's possible that 35 mm. SLRs and 35 mm. film may be among the last to go.

Maybe I'm being overly hopeful, but if one looks at list prices for
current cameras on Pentax USA's web site and compares them to selling
prices (at B&H for example), the street price is usually around 60% of
the list. Following that logic, we could see the *ist at about $200
and the *ist D at
Pentax has to be more aggressive in their pricing of the *ist D.
If $1600 is the list price and street is about $1300 as noted here; people
are apt to choose the 10D as the Canon system is now in its 3rd generation
(D30, D60 now 10D) where as the Pentax is first generation.
Pentax must be as agres
With a $1600 list and $1100-$1200 street price the DSLR should be OK so
long as Canon doesn't already have something in the same
price/size/weight range by then.

Well, I, for one, think 11-point AF and 16-segment metering are at least

And, they'd lose their flattest-film-plane advantage
that helps keep the 67 on top.
Personally, I'd like to see a 67 with a coupled rangefinder
on top, electronically linked to a focus sensor.
