I have this lens, along with the Sigma 28-105 2.4/4. The Sigma is lousy -- very soft,
noticeable even on 4x6 photos -- really. The Pentax is a small, compact lens. Quality
of images seems to be -- so far -- quite good. Very impressed with the color rendition.

I have considered purchasing the Pentax 80-200 2.8 for a while now, but the $1350
price, while I'm sure fair, isn't pocket change. Tokina's 80-200 can be had from the

I don't really think Royal Gold 100 is like Portra; in my opinion, the Portra
is more natural, while the RG is a bit more punchy. But so much can depend on
the printing, for sure. You might try Fuji Reala 100. It's has very fine
grain and rich colors -- if that's what you want.

I recently bought the PENTAX SMC-FA 20-35mm f/4 AL and LOVE it. The
contrasty, full-frame sharpness, and distortion-free images have been
phenomenal. The lens also handles well, and is relatively small. Yeah, it's
f/4, but the one-stop loss vs. size is often handy.

Just got a Minolta meter -- the IV, with flash and ambient reading
capability. Checked the TTL of my PZ1-P vs. the meter, and here's what I
