As of yesterday, I now have one of these that will not be properly recognized
by the Windows98 box that it ran in, nor in another more advanced machine that
is configured to use a similar card. The 'add new hardware' program finds the
card, but describes it as a "pci multimedia audio device" an
These are probably playable on standard "red book" hardware and the newer
Super Audio CD or SACD hardware. Seems the SACD and the competing DVD audio
formats haven't really taken off, but neither one has died.

what screen reader do you use? I've modified the sets created by Steve
Holmes for Agent and Window-eyes and use Agent 3.3 with fine results. Plan
to start on Agent 4.0 soon.

I, too have the same trouble with the message window, making e-mail and text
newsgroups less friendly than Outlook Express, but I can get along with the

How about Windows Media Center? Or you not using a TV toner? Because you

Try going back to the site and get the revised version of the demo. The
earlier one gave Window-eyes fits with all of the screen refreshing, but the

Many Dell systems come with drivers for their sound cards that do not suport
this option. I found the generic drivers on Creative's web site and
installed them. Not only did I get the 'what you hear' control, but I also
got a noticable improvement in system stability.
