well I do have a logitech usb mike that also humms a little bit, so the

it also stops if I pick it up. But regardless of what I place it on I will
hum just a little bit.

I bought a mount, but I am returning it, I thought the shock mount I would
be able to use on top of my desk but I need a boom arm and I am not going to
spend the money for one do not need it that bad yet.

I would try not using the mic stand that comes with the mic. Use a boom
stand and mount the mic that way so that it's not on the desk at all.
