Hi, List Members,
I'm trying to do what I thou should be a straight forward thing. I have a
wavefile which runs about 5 hours and tried to convert it to an MP 3 file at
128 K, sampling rate of 44.1 kHz.
I used Goldwave to record and convert the file.
The finished file still says the file size

Are you looking for a burning program or a ripping program? You're
asking about a burning program, which is where you want to burn music
from your PC onto a empty CD, but later you talk about getting music off
of a CD and onto your PC, which is ripping.
I believe you can just use Windows Explorer
Joe GddThank you. I'm not sure how a ripper can help me here. My original
source was a minidisk which I recorded onto my PC. My old Minidisk player has
a very good 5-hour mode.

Hello.
Sounds perfectly right to me. I've never tried saving such a huge amount of
data at once, but I can attest that it works for much smaller sizes. Maybe
you've encountered a bug of some kind?
If you have a CD ripper programme, most of them will convert wave to MP3.
You shouldn't have to
Still I did not get the programme. Please do help.

Would these portable players be things like MP3 players? Do they involve

Hmm, maybe something got mixed up here. I thought Joe was asking about
converting a five-hour .wav file that he'd created from a minidisc. For that
purpose, WinLame would help, and the YouTube thing is another matter which
you've already resolved.

Something's wrong there, definitely. Try a program called WinLame. It's a
wizard interface, which steps you through each option. It's quite good for
something like this, especially when converting a whole batch of files.

I have always used goldwave. Simply load the wave file into the editor;
then do a "save as". The "save as" dialog box has all the stuff you need.
One must set the file type and location as well as the format (bitrate,
etc.) before hitting the "save" button. A five hour file will take quite

Hi,
For now I gave up on the project. I set a physical to record in MP 3 and will
dump that to a computer to separate individual files from the long file and
make a data disk. Meanwhile, I'll give a look to Win Lame.
Thanks very much for all your input.

I have had pretty good luck with websites that do the converting. It would be
interesting to hear more from people
using programs than simply that the program is great, because there are some
complications with capturing audio
streams under Windows 7, for example. Do these programs add a soun
Howard,
What does it mean when goldwave asks if you want to update the file in a new
window? and Why should you say yes or no?
Thanks.
