could someone tell me where I could find software to make an mp3 file out of an
avi file? I thought loading a few movies on my mp3 player would give me some
distraction during an upcoming trip.
Thanks for any help.

Hi scott,
you can go to the microsoft site and get the windows media encoder which
will convert the file from avi to windows media audio (WMA) and depending
on what encoder software you have convert the (WMA) files to mp3. It's a
long way to do it but I don't know of any straight avi to mp3
Hi:
GoldWave will allow you to open .avi files and convert them to mp3 and many
other types.

One way to do it is to load the file into Gold Wave and then save as an

I use two different programs which can take you directly from an AVI
(and several other audio and video formats) directly to an MP3 (or
several other audio and video formats). They're both very easy to use
and totally accessible with JAWS, and I would assume any other screen
reader.

I would like to get clarifification on this. GoldWave converts the .avi file
into mp3. Correct? Replay Converter and Switch gets the actual audio file
from the .avi file?
The reason I'm asking this, is because I'd like a program to get the audio
file from the video file without converting it. A
Unfortunately, I don't know. So the AVI file format embeds an MP3 file
in it for the audio?

Can anyone tell me of a program that will allow me to take any video file
like mov, avi, mp4 or the like and make a DVD disk that will play in my DVD
player?
I know files can be saved as data files on a DVD, but I need to save them in
a DVD format.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks much,
T

Hmm, I'm not sure it's that simple. I don't really know though! I did go
to Wikipedia, and on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVI I found the
following statement "An AVI file may carry audio/visual data inside the
chunks in virtually any compression scheme, including " MP3 wasn't
listed, but i
