copying cd's

Hi I use a toshiba laptop with sonic record now and dla. I can copy music cd's, send files to burn on to cd but I can't seem to find out how to copy data disks. I know it can be done but it's not easy. My cd/dvd writer is an optical drive and nero is not compatible with the drive unfortunatel
