Hello,
I have quite a lot of recordings on cassette tape which I would
like to transfer to my PC. I have an on-board sound card, and the
recordings I have made so far have not been of particularly good
quality.
I have come across a few references to the Griffin iMic, which is a

Hi Andre,
Yes, I have connected a stereo mic to my h340 and it sounded great. I have
some recordings of Goalball which I did with my iRiver. I recommend
changing the bitrate to say something like 128 or my preferred 160 or higher
if you are going to do stereo recordings. I have a document which

The easiest way to do this is to plug the lyrics you do remember into
Google. (You might want to put quotes around them, to eliminate some
irrelevant hits.) I do this all the time, and I almost always find something

I bought a Griffin IMic, several months ago, for precisely the same project
you have in mind, digitizing my cassette collection. The iMic gave excellent
results! and, after completing that project, I still use it as my secondary

The switch on the iMic toggles between mic and line recording.

Ah! Thanks for clearing up that mystery. Now, can you tell me which position
is which? For example, if the switch is moved to the position closer to the
input jack, is that the line-in or mic-in setting?
Thanks.

Don't exactly remember; But if you plug in a mic and flip the
switch back and forth you can tell which is which. The position
where the mic is loudest is the position for the mic.

Well, since I don't have a mic, I can't do that. I'll get a sighted person

Sorry Peter you are absolutely correct, I meant the opposite of what I

I'm thinking about replacing the patch cord from my iMic Audio Device to my
stereo with a short-range FM wireless transmitter. I've never worked with
wireless hardware, till now. Are there any specifically
accessibility-related issues I need to be aware of? Thanks.

It is pretty basic and accessibility should not be an issue. You plug the
transmitter into the headphone jack on any device and it transmits a signal
to your stereo receiver. Then you tune your stereo to that signal.

Thanks for the reply. The recordings I have made so far through my on-board

provide a brighter reproduction. I have seen it available on Amazon as well

I search for songs by typing a few words into google followed by the word
lyrics. This narrows the results quite a bit and have had probably 99%
success finding those mystery songs.

Dana! I've never seen one where accessibility was a concern. You just
plug them in and they do their thing. You will have to sacrifice some
fidelity but I can't write about that in any more specific terms than that.
You may notice and you may not.
