Hi folks,
I have a number of cd's that I am considering copying to my hard drive; I've
had those discs for many years and I am concerned about deterioration and/or
scratching, etc. However, I don't know what file format I should convert the
tracks into. I have free versions of Real Player and W
Well, I use mp3 at 160 kb. However, if it is possible to tell from your
collection, you might want to put any out-of-print cd's into a lossless
compression format for archiving. Flac will do very nicely, though you'll
have to get the tracks into .wav format first. If you're going to do flac,

Scott! Of course the best thing would be to save your CD content as
Wave files but if you can't afford the space then I would suggest that you
save them as MP3. Other formats probably yield better quality audio such as
OGG or WMA but they are no where near as popular and versatile. For exam

Hi, all. Seems like i'm full of questions lately.
I've been working with two sound cards for the past few days adn can't seem
to figure out how to set the volume and recording perameters on each card

Also, I hear that with Og Vorvis, you can get the same quality of recording
that you get with MP3 at 160 kbps, with 80 kbps with Og. I think that WMA
is also smaller than MP3. Also with MP3, you can get up to ten hours of
music. Virtually, an MP3 file is a tenth the size of a wav at 128 kbps.
Hi Scott.
I'm using windows media player to archive my CD collection using WMA
lossless as my choice of format.
As it says, it's a lossless format and so quality is guaranteed. Therefore,
if you want to burn to CD in the future and play on a real hi-fi system,
you're going to get the full freque

There has been quite a few messages lately concerning keyboard shortcuts

Here is a site that I think will help out with giving you shortcut keys.

Hi Kevin! With the DVD player I have now, I can play the WMA files I have
on some disks, where I wasn't able to on my previous DVD player! I guess
that more MP3 CD players are allowing for the WMA format!

try and play an mp3 disk. The dvd player played the first 9 mp3 tracks.
Then it kept going back to the first track. I called the store where I

Jerry,
I haven't tried opening sndvol32, just opening the control panel and then
sounds, then selecting the autio tab. I'll try sndvol32 and see if that
gives better results.
Thanks.

First, try copying without any anti-spyware active. If that doesn't work,
temporarily disable your anti-virus software.

I would consider the q-chord as not only some kind of toy. I think it
actually has real potential as a serious musical instrument.
I may be considering buying one of them if I can get hold of it here in SA!

Hi,
I must point out that I use Roxio 6 and Nero 6 and Norton and experience no
