My "personal" stand alone yamaha burner will not recognize data cds. You have to use audio cds, whether you want to or not. This, as I understand it, is standard for these kinds of burners. I still don't know what the difference between data and audio cds is, but it applies to both cdr and cd

Just to clarify things, the yamaha burner to which I referred is a stand alone burner that burns audio cds only, and you have to burn them on discs called audio discs. It will accept both cdr and cdrw audio discs, but it won't accept data discs of either type, and it won't burn data at all. I
