And for normalizing sound levels quickly and simply, get the levellator from
the conversations network. I don't have URLs handy and am in a hurry, but
Google "conversations network" levellator and you should be able to find it.

A program like DC7 might do the job from Tracertech (I think that's the
spelling)
It does cost a bit though.
