You could use the numpad commander if keystrokes are that much of an issue.

Honestly Mac computers are pretty cool and often relatively more stable then
windows pcs.
But VoiceOver is far from being as complex as for example Jaws, so it relies
more on apps being VoiceOver compatible.
And it took quite a lot of time before a reasonable scanner application got
available f
