I think the difference in .mp3 and data cd's particularly in Easy CD
Creater is not in playability but in playlist management. I don't
believe that the data form supports playlisting while the .mp3 option
does permit you to create and burn a playlist to maintain track grouping
and order.

You can play data CDs on an mp3 CD player. I have several of these players
and they handle my CDs with no problem.

Make yourself a regular data cd and just add as many mp3 files as you
can on it. a data CD and an mp3 CD are one and the same. the only
reason it might be called an mp3 cd is because it has mp3's on it,
but they're one and the same.
You should be able to get around 120 mp3 files on a data cd
