Peter, I've never needed a manual for mine. I don't know anything about a
lever, but mine has a slide switch on the edge where the sockets are.

What lever is that you're referring to? Is it the little button switch on
the side (outer edge) of the disc?

Indeed, that's a good enough reason as any. The Sound Blaster Live
packed it in on one of my Windows boxes but not to worry, off to buy
another Imic so if anything breaks down in the Sound device
department ever again, the replacement job will only take 5 seconds
instead of ten minutes.
