We sort of had this discussion, and because audible books are
copy-right, Geoff the list owner won't let us discuss this on the
list, he can't really.

Wrong and fairly wrong. The books are not MP3's, they are encoded, so
that they can't be played on most MP3 players. You used to be able to
convert them to MP3, but not now, because of the latest version of
audible manager.
Audible manager is fairly accessible, though sometimes you have fun
